Professional Opportunities and their Requirements

Radiologist

Professional Requirements:

  • Completion of the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (FRANZCR) or equivalent
  • General and Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Queensland
  • Recognition as a specialist by Medicare Australia (formerly known as the Health Insurance Commission or HIC)

Our Radiologists report on a broad range of procedures which are drawn from:

  • Multi-Slice CT
  • Ultrasound (includes Nuchal Translucency)
  • Echocardiography
  • Bone Densitometry
  • Mammography
  • General and Dental X-Ray
  • Paediatric Procedures

Radiographer

Professional Requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiation Technology) specialising in Medical Imaging Technology, or equivalent
  • Professional membership of the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR)

Main Duties:

  • Provision of a high quality diagnostic imaging service for patients as referred by General Practitioners and Specialists
  • In conjunction with the Radiologist, determine appropriate imaging techniques to provide the diagnostic information requested by the referrer
  • Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns that they may have
  • Develop and check x-ray films after processing
  • Assist our administrative staff in servicing patients at reception (as required)

Sonographer

Professional Requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Applied Science plus a Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound, or equivalent
  • Professional membership of an industry body such as the Australian Sonographers Association (ASA) or Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM)

Main Duties:

  • Provision of a high quality ultrasound imaging service for patients as referred by General Practitioners and Specialists
  • In conjunction with the Radiologist, determine appropriate imaging techniques to provide the diagnostic information requested by the referrer
  • Prepare and submit patient worksheet reports to the radiologist
  • Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns that they may have

Medical Typist / Receptionist

Professional Requirements:

  • While no formal qualifications are necessary professional typing experience and an understanding of medical terminology are highly regarded in the selection process.

Main Duties:

  • Most importantly, you provide a high level of customer service to our patients, our referrers, and administrative staff from our referrers clinics
  • Based in our reception area duties include managing the phones, prompt and accurate typing of medical reports, liaison with our referrers, and general office administration.
